Who is a Healthcare Advocate?
An Advocate can be anyone, but there are common threads that unite us in our mission to ethically do what it takes for a patient to receive care in a timely and affordable manner.
An Advocate is someone whose primary concern, above all else, is finding access to therapies so the patients can receive the care they sought help for, such as life-sustaining or life-saving medications.
An Advocate helps prevent patients from having to choose between affording their utilities or their medication.
An Advocate can be told “no” 300 times and even after that 300th “no,” it is just another starting point to asking a payer or insurance provider what they need to do or who they need to speak with to help their patient.
An Advocate doesn’t get paid the “big bucks,” but they should be! This is a job that is a work of heart that needs professional recognition.
An Advocate is not afraid to tell a provider “no” or to ask “why”, when appropriate.
An Advocate is someone who is at the forefront on behalf of a patient to assure they are getting the care needed in a timely manner and at a low cost.
